What is FanContact?

FanContact is cloud-based software that captures your engaged Facebook fans and allows you to send them unlimited messages.

Launch Date: April 26, 2017

Launch Time: 11am EST

Launch Price: $37 (price increases throughout the launch)

Upsells: Bunches! I will detail them below.

Product Creators: Andrew Darius and the Explaindio Team

In this FanContact review I hope to demonstrate to you how the software works, as well as give you an idea of my opinion on it. To get started let’s learn more about this new Facebook software via Explaindio’s FanContact demo…

As you see from the demo, FanContact is very straight-forward to use and is pretty easy to setup. To setup FanContact you have to create a Facebook app. But don’t worry, the Explaindio team has a video that walks you through exactly how to do it.

What do you get with FanContact?

The base FanContact app gives you the following:

  • One Facebook account connection
  • 5000 subscribers
  • Manual setup of Auto-reply to post comments (Confused? See details below.)

Most of my fan pages are tied to my business Facebook account so that is not a problem for me. If you want to connect multiple Facebook accounts you have to buy the FanContact Business upgrade.

You might be wondering…what are subscribers?

Subscribers are people that engage with your fan page by leaving a comment on new posts or have messaged your page in the past. So not all fans will be subscribers.

For example, if you have a fan page with 7500 fans but only 1500 have ever engaged with the page, the import it will only pull in the 1500 people that have engaged with your page.

So, if you have really large and active fan pages you may have to look at the upsell that gives you more subscribers.

And the last thing is setting up auto-reply for your posts. This is great if you only post once or twice a day to your fan page. You can manually setup auto-reply to comments for those posts. If you post more than that, or have automatic posting enabled through another app…you will want to look at the Comment Reply Assistant upsell.

Let’s look at the upsells…

Comment Reply Assistant – $9.95/mo – 10 pages, $19.95/mo – 30 pages, $29.95/mo – 100 pages

Comment Reply Assistant sets up auto-reply for all new posts and is great if you utilize any type of automated content creation on your fan pages.

Smart Contact Adder – $47

With the base FanContact all new commenters are turned into subscribers. But with this upgrade, FanContact can dig through all of your old posts and find past commenters to add as subscribers.

Segmenter Module – $67

As it name suggests, the FanContact Segmenter enables you to segment your subscribers, just like you would do in your email autoresponder.

Business – $47, $97, $197

The FanContact Business upgrade enables you to add multiple Facebook accounts. Details are a little sparse so you will have to watch for it during the sales funnel and decide if it is needed.

Sender Apps Packs – $47, $97, $147

Again, details are a bit sparse on what this upgrade is, but I suspect it has to do with adding subscriber count.

What I like about FanContact:

FanContact is very easy to setup and use. I was able to quickly go through the Facebook app setup, connect FanContact and import my first subscribers.

I tested a couple of messages and setup a couple of post auto-replies and everything seemed to work as advertised.

I also like that FanContact enables you grab subscribers just by them commenting on your posts.

Other software required users to send your page a message before adding them. This just wasn’t very natural.

Commenting, on the other hand, is one of the most natural things people do on Facebook.

I have several fan ages with 1000+ fans that I am going to utilize FanContact with to see if I can drive more sales.

What I don’t like about FanContact:

From a functionality standpoint…I have no problems with FanContact. My only issue (opinion) is with how the software was divided between base and upgrades.

I know it’s hard for product developers to determine which features should be in the base software versus which should be an upgrade.

In FanContact’s case I think the Smart Contact Adder should be in the base software. I think to make the software super-successful you want people to be able to add as many subscribers as possible as quick as possible. For many users that will be to pull in past commenters.

And I wish the Comment Reply Assistant was not a monthly fee. But I understand that it requires ongoing processing and server resources that have to be paid for as the user base for FanContact grows.
